McEver Elementary Sports Camp
In 2006, CTSC made a decision to begin mission work in our hometown of Gainesville, GA with the inaugural McEver Elementary sports camp. With tremendous enthusiasm and support from the school staff and our home church Pleasant Hill Baptist, we held our first camp.
Through this camp we have seen many children come to Christ including teachers’ children and children from our home church. What an amazing blessing!!
The camp is now 10 years old and has gone through many transitions. Through them all, the youth of Pleasant Hill have been faithful workers and have learned how God can use them in ministry in so many ways. We have made missionaries who have caught fire for Christ and gone on to minister with other organizations, at their colleges and who have grown to help us as leaders.
One of the best things about “doing camp” in our hometown is that we see the campers everywhere, and we see the same kids year after year. We get to watch them grow up, to hug them when we see them around town and we get to build relationships with entire families who are then drawn in to other activities and ministries within the church. This is the model of CTSC, to jump start a relationship between a local church and the community.
